London, Kentucky…. This nearly finished 44ft x 70ft greenhouse is coming along nicely. The greenhouse is complete with a black frame, 6/12 roof pitch, potting shed entrance, continuous roof and side vents, double glass, and decorative beauty caps. It was designed for the client to over-winter large trees (as much as 22 ft tall) until they are moved outside in the summer. The completed garden room will most likely be featured in our 2025 catalog (which we will post when released). Considered commercial in size, it is designed with a roll up garage door on the back end to move in the larger plants. We will share more pictures upon completion and finished landscaping. This one is a real beauty….

This space is set up for both plants and entertaining friends. It has a few features we will leave to the imagination, but one we will share is its full bathroom with shower for the gardener to clean up in after a days work. This custom built garden room, with a charming vestibule entrance, has all 1/4 inch thick plate glass throughout (in a lightly tinted green hue). With both heating and auto venting features it can handle all 4 Wisconsin seasons with ease. One of our favorites.

This third story rooftop greenhouse is located above their restaurant, coffee shop, retail store, etc. Located near the United Center, The Roof Crop uses this rooftop garden and greenhouse space for year round growing, special events, and learning experiences. TRC was conceived as a project to market farmable green roof systems in 2013 and has since grown into a green roof growing media, landscape, and urban farm company with deep ties to the communities in which they work.
About the greenhouse:
Our greenhouse was a uniquely designed gutter connected set of garden rooms. Complete with a black frame, a combination of polycarbonate and glass, roof and side vents, and internal fans. Also designed to withstand Chicago skyline winds of 120 mph. We also installed a matching skylight that looks down into the 2nd floor teaching kitchen. Here you can see the stone mason mortaring on a flat field stone to a poured concrete wall. This veneer finish gives the building a warmer feel that can also complement the property overall. The knee-wall itself keeps the glass and greenhouse protected from multiple things including landscape mishaps (rocks, etc), rodents & bugs, and snow build up in winter. This project also used a large stone cap on the wall to give it a final touch. If you do a knee-wall hopefully you can find a craftsman like 75 year old John who is very meticulous about his craft.
